NELSON HAKE
Nelson L. Hake, 96, of Nashville, formerly of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2002 at the Washington County Hospital, Nashville.
Born December 3, 1905 in North Prairie, he was the son of Louis F. and Mary (Bartelsmeyer) Hake. He married Jean Schmidt in 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri, and she preceded him in death in 1997.
Surviving are nieces, nephews and cousins including Lester Hake, Chuck Hake, and Dr. Michael Gewe, all of Nashville, and Esther Coe of Centralia.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, Alvin, and Harvey Hake, and twin sisters, Luella Brandt and Lucella Dueker, in addition to his wife and parents.
He was a graduate of Nashville High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Central Wesleyan College and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Colorado. He taught and served as principal of Vandalia High School and also at Cobden and Fairfield High Schools. During World War II, he acted as a price control specialist in the Offic33e of Price Administration, Springfield. He became affiliated with the Underwriters Adjusting Company in Springfield and later became their office manager in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1855 he joined the Aetna Insurance Company in Springfield and also in the farm department in the Chicago office. Due to health problems, he returned in 1965 and he and his wife moved to Rogers, Arkansas, where they enjoyed 30 years. He was a Rotarian for 35 years, a member of the Nashville Lions Club and the Grace United Methodist Church in Nashville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 14, at the Styninger-Krupp Funeral Home, Nashville. Rev. Bob Herath will officiate. Interment will be in North Prairie Cemetery, rural Hoyleton.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, and from 7:30 a.m. until time of service Thursday.
Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church and will be received at the Styninger-Krupp Funeral Home
