  1. 1.  LANDIS Jacob was born in 1667 in Zurich, Switzerland; died in 1730 in Lancaster County, PA; was buried in Mellinger's Cemetery, Lancaster Co, PA (Unmarked grave).

    Notes:

    Hans (or John) Jacob Landis has sometimes been confused with Benjamin Landis who was believed to be one of the three brothers who came to Philadelphia in 1717. Benjamin was actually the son of Jacob Landis. Jacob died at lampeter Township in 1730, he left no will and there is no record of his children. He was taxed at Lancaster County as Jacob Landis or sometimes John Jacob Landis. He warranted land in Lampeter Township in 1718 which was later patented by Benjamin Landis (his son.) Jacob lived near his brother Felix in Lampeter.

    Jacob married WITMER Anna in ABT. 1693 in Germany. Anna (daughter of WITMER Jacob and MUGGENLOCH Catharina) was born in Nov 1671 in Pfalz, Germany; died in 1725 in Lancaster County, PA. [Group Sheet]
