    Isaac Carson (1841-1898) was born in Ballybay, Ireland, son of John and Elizabeth Wilson Carson, came to America in 1860 and settled in St. Louis, then to Madison County, then to Washington County. Nancy Boyle Carson (1840-1917) was born in Londonderry County, Ireland, near Dungiven on the River Roe, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Sterling Boyle. They came to America in 1852. She met and married Isaac in 1863 at Oakdale R. P. Church by Rev. A. Todd.

    Notes:

    David Preston Carson, the sixth child of John and Elizabeth Carson was b. 6/16/1865, D. 5/2/1852. Both of his parents were born in Ireland. John Carson came with his father, John Carson, along with his brothers and sisters, to America and settled in Pilot Knob Township in 1846. the brothers and sisters of David Carson may be found under (John and Elizabeth Carson). After the death of his mother 6/23/1889 of lockjaw, David married Eleanor Todd Kennedy 11/13/1889, daughter of Katie J. Willson of Pennsylvania and Andrewe Todd Kennedy, who was a Sergeant in the Civil War. Eleanor was b. 5/11/1867, d. 11/30/1929. Her mother died when she was 18 days old. She was taken by her grandmother, Eleanor Todd Kennedy and made her home with her until she married, except for the years she attended a girl's school in Oxford, Ohio.

    The children born to david and Eleanor Carson were: Melville Kennedy Carson b. 11/16/1890, he was a miister in Reformed Presbyterian Church for 50 years, having pastorates in Sparta, Seattle, Washington, Bell Center, Ohio. After retiring he preached in Montclair, New Jersey until his death 3/13/1970. He married Margaret Faith Coleman, b. 1/23/1895, date of marriage was 8/17/1920. To this union were born three children: David Melville Carson; Margaret Coleman Carson; and James Donald. All the children were born in Sparta, whle their father was minister there.

    Second child, Katie Willson, b. 4/28/1892, d. 5/2/1967, married 6/16/1915 to Joseph Houseman, b. 3/26/1889. Katie was a school teacher. To this unnion 11 children were born: Elizabeth May; David Paul; Willard Joseph; all born in Detroit, Michigan, while their father worked in the Ford Plant. The followign eight children were born in Lakeland, Florida; Mary Eleanor; Anna Margaret; Clara Rose; Fred Lewis; Fern Abigail; John Moody; Hannah Ruth; and Stephen Daniel.

    John Elwyn Carson
    (refer to John and Elizabeth Carson and William and Eleanor Kennedy) was born Aug. 23, 1985, son of David Preston Carson and Eleanor (Kennedy) Carson. Elwyn married Edna Joanna Adams Aug. 3, 1921 in Oakdale, Il. Edna was born April 17, 1899 the daughter of William Getty and Elizabeth Ann (Robinson) Adams (refer to William Adams). Elwyn spent some time in World War I and then farmed and spent his entire life on the farm east of Oakdale being the fourth Carson generation on that farm. Edna taught school three years in the rural school in Washington County before she married.
    They are the parents of three childdren: Eileen Kathryn born Sept. 5, 1922; Preston Adams, born June 4, 1926; and Mary Joanna born April 24, 1928. Eileen, Preston, and Joann all rode a pony all eight years to grade school at Luney. Eileen and Joann also rode a pony some when they taught school. Billy, one of our ponies was the oldest pony in Washington County.
    Eileen married William Robert Auld July 9, 1945; Preston married Jane Harsh May 27, 1949; and Joann married William Jewel Richards May 27, 1949. Elwyn died Oct. 21, 1974 and is buried in the Oakdale Cemetery.

    Stuart Carson was born April 6, 1905 on a farm near Oakdale to Jones and Edith Carson. Jones was born December 13, 1863 in Stanton, Illinois to William and Margaret Frayer Carson. He had three brothers, William, John and Isaac. January 19, 1887 Jones married Edith Coulter, duaghter of Samuel and Maria Little Coulter. They lived in Stanton, Illinois one year and then moved to a farm west of Oakdale.

    Stuart had two sisters: belle, born in December, 1890 and Gladys born in May, 1898. Both were elementary school teachers in Washington County for a number of years. Belle later taught in Berwyn, Illinois and Gladys later taught in Chester. Belle died January 20, 1961. Gladys married Harry Sommers September 10, 1942. They lived on a farm west of Oakdale. Gladys died Mary 29, 1945.

    Stuart married Eleanora Kroener, daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Kroener, on March 20, 1941. They lived on the Carson farm in Oakdale Township. Stuart was a farmer and raised registered Hereford cattle, which he enjoyed showing at the County Fair. He worked as a guard at Security Hospital in Chester for over twelve years. Being civic minded he helped with many community projects. He served on the board of directors of the Washington County Soil Conservation District for a number of years and was a member of the Washington County Fair Board. Stuart died December 6, 1971. At the time of his death, Stuart was supervisor of Oakdale Township. His wife was appointed to finish out his term of office. Eleanora was the first woman supervisor and the first woman to serve on the County Board of Supervisors in Washington County. She is still supervisor of Oakdale Township. Eleanora is a charter member of the Washington County Home Extension, Historial Society and Trails Crossing Chapter of DAR.

    Stuart and Eleanora have two daughters, Myrene and Edith. Both are graduates of S. I. ., Carbondale and taught school before they were married.

    On July 7, 1972, Myrene was married to Cecil Alfeldt in the Reformed Presbyterian Church by Rev. Robert Henning. They have two children, Gregoryand Karen. Cecil and his brother, Verdell, own four coin laundries, two car washes and a Christmas Tree Farm.

    Edith was married to Dale Lancaster of Belleville by Rev. Charles Sterrett in the Reformed Presbyterian Church on August 26, 1967. They live in Ballwin, Mo. with their two sons, Kevin and Darren Stuart. Dale is vice-president of the Data Processing Department of Tom Boy Groceries, Inc.

    Stuart, his parents and two sisters are buried in the Oakdale Cemetery. Eleanora still lives on the family farm.
