• Notes

  Many early records show her family name as Shade, rather than Schadt. However, research done by Dora Kamalu at the LDS Family History Center in Salt Lake City shows her name as Shadt; probably Schadt. She was able to locate records of her probably parents (Henry and Susanna) with that same name. But if Henry was born in 1711, per Forrest Shade, researcher , then either she was not Henry's daughter, or her birth year was not 1725, when Henry was only 14. She may have been Henry's sister, born to Conrad Schadt. Even so, it is noted that in the Fall 1996 issue of "Branches of Berks", the BDGS ancestors of Norman Brown show Susanna Shade ( b. July 11, 1807, d. Mar 6, 1835); Andrew Shade (b. Nov 8 1764, d. Jun 6 1843); Andrew Shade (b. 1725, d. 1786). The relationship between those Shades and this Margaret Schadt is not known. Margaret may have been a sister to the older Andrew Shade, sharing the same birth year (within limits of accuracy), although Forrest Shade does not show her there. There is a Schadt Family History at the Lehigh Co Historical Society; it does not show Margaret. Susan has a copy. Also, she is not shown in "History of Lehigh County, Pennsylvania", pp 1114 et seq.
