  • Notes
    • Johan Jacob Albrecht emigrated from Rotterdam, and arrived on the ship "Samuel" in Philadelphia on Aug 11 1732. He (37) was listed with his wife Magdalena (35) and children Michael (13), Eva (9), Maria (3), and Christina (3). Maria and Christina must have been twins. Another son, John, must have been born after arrival in America.

The ship's manifest showed his name as Jacob, but an Albright historian (Harald Reksten) shows his name as Johan Jacob. Conventionally, he would have been called Jacob, as the Johan in such cases was not used as a first name.

Johan Jacob Albrecht (abt 1695) and Johannes Albrecht (abt 1695) may have been brothers. They arrived in Philadelphia within a month of each other in 1732. Jacob's son Michael moved to Rowan Co, NC; three of Johannes' children moved to Fuilford, Orange, and Alamance Cos, NC.

Jacob was a witness to the will of his friend and neighbor, the immigrant, Philipp Jacob Probst, who was the father of his (Jacob's) son-in-law, Jean Michael Probst. He signed his name in old German script.

Jacob's death date is not certain, but he died some time before the probate of Philipp Jacob's will, which was in 1760.

Other references shows the name of the father of Marilis Albrecht as Matthew, not Johan Jacob, but those references are vague and of uncertain credibility. The name Johan Jacob appears to be much more likely.
