Family tradition states John immigrated from Prague with his family ca. 1885-6 (father names John, uncle named Michael) to Rush Center, Rush County, Kansas. He volunteered, ca 1898-0, underage and served as Private, Troop C, lst Cavalry, Camp #110, shippping out of Los Angeles, CA, where he served to quell the Philippine Insurrection. He received 100% disability for the remainder of his life with reoccurring episodes of Yellow Fever. He was Post Commander of VFW Post #1485, Cicero, Illinois. Pension File #XC2, 522, 860. Sometime later, abt. 1905 or earlier he is living in Chicago, Illinois.
