- Notes from Lothar Teikemeyer of Bonn, Germany, to Morris Huck:
Johann Herm Hueck b. 1726 and alive in 1170 married Anna Elisabeth Spilcker (von Clauss Staette in Eickhorst), probably Eickhorst 10. They married 1745 and lived in Unterluebbe 1. Spilcker is probably a child of Johan Ernst Spilker or Claus or Clausmeyer from Hilferdingsen 13 (Unterluebbe) originally, later marrying to Eickhorst 10, borne 1693, whose parents were Spilker or Clauss Meyer and Ann Margret Hilgenbrink. This earlier Spilker came from Ernst Spilker, Schurbusch 6 (Unterluebbe), the Hilgenbrink came from Volmardingsen 27 (an ancedstor of Cowley). Ernst Spilker, + 1693 with 78 years, had 7 children, and four of them had been the ancestors of my grand-grand-mother Caroline Huck, he's a rather remarkable figure:-) A sister of this Ernst Spilker is known with their descendants. Also it is known, that an evangelical pastor from Bergkirchen, Erich Spilker, died 1647. Also it is known, that Schuerbusch 6 was in possession of a Nolte Spilker (1511 + 1545), of a Toenniess Spilker or Spielcker (1596 +1531). Other Spilker-families had been in Unterluebbe 3 and 7 since 1511.
Johann Herm Hueck was a twin-child, his brother died at birth. HIs father, who married twice (first woman dying young after the first dead son), had totally 11 children, but only 2 survived youth, one becoming 12 years, the other 8 dying tin the first year of their lives. The only surviving sister of Johann Herm married a Priess of Elfte 1, Oberluebbe (also ancestor of J. B. Cowley, as it seems), which should have been also a "rich farmer" in the region. The father lived from 1680 - 1743, marrying his 2nd wife Anna Margaretha Boene (1695 - 1754) in 1715. Boene's parents were Herman Bohne, Eicksen 3 (Rothenuffeln) (1655 - 1718) and Marla Tilemann (1669 - 1750) from Lohof 8, Oberluebbe. The parents and partly grandparents of these are also known, Herman Bohne being child of another Herman Boene and a Gretge Peper, Tilemann being daughter of Erik Tilemann + Engel Trin Kurrelbaum, Erik being son of Erik + George Tilemann (Lohof 8), Engel Trin Kurrelbaum being daughter of Johan + Anneke Kurrelbaum (Luebbe 19, Oberluebbe).
Johan Herm Huecks father was Hinrich Huck (1680 - 1743). He was the son of Hinrich Meyer called Huck, Koehlterholz 1 (1652 - 1737). He married 1673 Wolbrig Spetmann (1642 - 1732), with whom "he was married 62 years". She was the daughter of Johan Spetmann (1600 - 1680), auf der Heide 15, Rothenuffeln. Hinrich Huck was son from Caspar Meyer called Huck, who was dead before 1671, and had 5 chidlren with an unknown woman, who died with 79 years in 1695 (Unterluebbe 11, one of the son married to Rothenuffeln and took the name Isemann. Caspar Meyer was son of a Meyer called Huck and had a sister, whose name is unknown, who became ancestor to other related lines.
As earlier owners of Unterluebbe 1 are known
1545 Hiuk, Richert up dem Koltenholtz
1596 Herman im Kolterholze
1631 Hinrich Huecke
But it is doubtable, that these all are real ancestors, because the later appearing name "Meyer called Huck".
In Unterluebbe 2 is a Hartke Meyer (more than one person) in 16th/17th century, later the name developed in Harckemeyer. Unterluebbe 4 is 1631 in possession of a Hinrich Meyer (before in the possession of a Volckman). Unterlubbe 5 belongs earlier than 1545 to a Rentgemeier, and later is called Reinicke Meyer or Reincke Meyer. Unterlubbe 13 belongs 1545 to a Hinnerk Meyer, and is later called Clauwes Meyer and later Claussmeyer or Claus Meyer or Claus or Klaus.
So probably one of these Meyers once married a daughter of the original Hucks, or got the household by another relations or actions (eventually a childless Huck gave the house to a son of a sister or something like this), therefore the name "Meyer called Huck" developed and was later again changed into "Huck".
