      Ben served in World War I from May 1, 1917, as a First Lieutenant, Motor Transport Corps, to command of 309 Supply Train in the States, staioned nine months in Paris, France, operating Peace Conferende Transportation. At the close of his service, October 30, 1919, had achieved the rank of Captain. ("Ingels Family" by Kate Ingels Peak and Margaret Ingels, 1945.
