Bertha Schmidt, Lebanon, Dies; Funeral Friday
Mrs. Bertha Louise Schmidt, 82, of 607 West schuetz Street, lebanon, died at 4:35 yesterday afternoon at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, where she was a patient since Saturday. Seriously ill for one month, she suffered a heart ailment. Mrs. Schmidt was born at Collinsville, Jan. 16, 1875, a daughter of Albert and Elizabeth Cloud Yeager, and married Christian Schmidt at Lebanon, sept. 12, 1900. he died Jan. 4, 1955.
She is survived by 4 daughters and 2 sons, Cethel, wife of William Chaplin, of Huntington Park, CA; Eva, wife of William Pullen, of Berkley, CA; Cleola, wife of Earl Schlisinger, of 1138 S Charles St; Florence, wife of Harlold Penner of Detroit; Damon of Detroit and Everett, at home. 2 sons and 2 daughters preceded in death.
She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, one great- grandchild, and a brother John Yaeger, of O'Fallon. Seven brothers and a sister preceded in death. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Friday afternoon at the Meyer Funeral Home, Lebanon. Rev. Howard Poetter, Pastor of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Lebanon, will officiate. Interment will be in College Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:30 tomorrow night.
Mrs. Schmidt was a member of the Pocahontas Lodge at O'Fallon and the Pythian Sisters in Belleville. The Pocahontas Lodge will conduct graveside services.
