Notes - In the early 1950's, Bessie came east to visit her older sister Stella Sonnenberg and family. She was an admirer of the late President Franklin Roosevelt and wanted to see his home in Hyde Park, NY. The family took her there on an outing, and just as they were leaving, Bessie spotted Eleanor Roosevelt driving up to the home. Bessie ran to the car to talk to the former first lady, and as she did so, the secret service went into action to protect Mrs. Roosevelt. Mrs. Roosevelt graciously waved them away and allowed Bessie to come up to the car to converse with her. It must have been one of the more exciting moments in Bessie's life.
Bessie had several children.
