      According to the 1870 Agricultural Special Census (#3) of Gwinnett County, Georgia, Harmon Stapp owned 45 acres of improved land, 40 acres of woodland, and 30 acres of other unimproved land, $50 worth of farming implements and machinery, 1 horse, 2 milk cows, and 1 other cattle, 18 sheep, 3 swine, 40 bushel of winter wheat, 50 bushel of Indian corn, 15 bushel of oats, 20 lbs of wool, 25 bushel of sweet potatoes, 50 lbs of butter, 50 lbs of honey, $15 of forest products, and $150 value in home manufacture. In all his farm was worth $500.

      STATE HOW LONG YOU HAVE BEEN IN SUCH CONDITION THAT YOU COULD NOT EARN YOU SUPPORT? I am old and not able to get about without help. I am 81 years of age and have nothing to live on. Not able to do any work in 5 years.
      WHAT POVERTY, EFFECTS OR INCOME DO YOU POSSESS, AND ITS GROSS VALUE? Nothing.
      WHAT PROPERTY, EFFECTS OR INCOME DID YOU POSSESS 1894 - 1899, AND WHAT DISPOSITION, IF ANY DID YOU MAKE THE SAME? Nothing. I have libed in Hall County til 1897 since that time have lived in Gwinnett County.
      HOW WERE YOU SUPPORTED DURING THE YEARS 1898 AND 1899? by the help of my children.
      WHAT PORTION DID YOU CONTRIBUTE THERETO BY YOUR OWN LABOR OR INCOME? he swares he does not know he contributed any.
      WHAT WAS YOUR EMPLOYMENT DURING 1898 AND 1899? not able to do anything thing and had no income.
      HAVE YOU A FAMILY? IF SO, WHO COMPOSES SUCH FAMILY? I have a wife, she is supported help of children. No homestead.
      ARE YOU RECEIVING ANY PENSION? none

Rowe, M.D. both known to me as reputable physicians of said County, who, being severally sworn, say on oath that they have examined carefully Harmon Stapp, applicant for pension under Section 1254, Code, and after such personal examination say that his precise physical condition is as follows: "Very old and infirm almost entirely deaf, almost demented, suffering severe pain in right side supposed to be due to horse kick in time of Confederate War.

      WHAT IS YOUR NAME AND WHERE DO YOU RESIDE? J.B. Wright. I live in Gwinnett County, Georgia.
      ARE YOU AQUAINTED WITH HARMON STAPP, THE APPLICANT? AND FOR HOW LONG? Yes, have known him ever since the war 1864.
      WHERE DOES HE RESIDE AND HOW LONG AND SINCE WHEN HAS HE BEEN A RESIDENT OF THE STATE? in Gwinnett County Ga in Ga ever since the war.
      WHEN, WHERE AND IN WHAT COMPANY AND REGIMENT DID HE ENLIST, AND HOW DO YOU KNOW? July 1864 in Co K 30 Regt Ga Vols. I was with him.
      WERE YOU A MEMBER OF THE SAME COMPANY AND REGIMENT? yes.
      HOW LONG DID HE PERFORM REGULAR MILITARY DUTY AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW OF HIS CONFEDERATE SERVICE, AND THE TIME AND CIRCUMSTANCES OF HIS DISCHARGE? About 8 months in said Co & Regt and was discharged at Macon in April 1865 by the surrender he was a faithful soldier. I was with him.
      WHAT PROPERTY, EFFECTS OR INCOME HAS THE APPLICANT? Nothing. I live near him and personally know that he has nothing.
      WHAT PROPERTY DID THE APPLICANT HAVE IN 1896 - 1899? Nothing, had nothing in those years.
      HAS HE CONVEYED AWAY ANY OF HIS PROPERTY IN THE LAST YEARS? He has conveyed away nothing in these years.
      WHAT IS THE APPLICANT'S OCCUPATION AND PHYSICAL CONDITION? He does nothing. He is not able to do any work of any sort.
      IS THE APPLICANT UNABLE TO SUPPORT HIMSELF BY LABOR OF ANY SORT, IF SO, WHY? He is unable to support himself at any work or calling on account of his age.
      HOW WAS HE SUPPORTED DURING THE YEARS 1898 & 1899? His children have supported him for 5 years totally at their own expense.
      WHAT PORTION OF HIS SUPPORT FOR THESE TWO YEARS WAS DERIVED FROM HIS OWN LABOR OR INCOME? None.
      GIVE A FULL AND COMPLETE STATEMENT OF THE APPLICANT'S PHYSICAL CONDITION THAT ENTITLES HIM TO A PENSION. he is old and not able to work at anything and was a faithful soldier in the Confederate War.

      Sir:
      I am the widow of harmon Stapp, and I have used every means in my power to find one of his comrades. i have been unable to do so, & I believe them all to be either dead or removed away to posts within (?). I was placed in the Pensions Reel (?) at Lawrenceville -Ga- about 8 - 10 years ago and drew a pension as the Wid of Harmon Stapp Co - B 43rd Ga Infty. I removed to Ala & my pension (?) on Ap 1st 1914- I was (?) that my husband's name was not in the rolls in Co B 43 Ga. I have been sick and had measles(?) - for 5 yearsI have no means of my (?) of what my friends and children furnish. I am in need & mayor's(?) consent help - being unable to write as my self - I am wishing to testify (?) that my husband, served 4 years in the Confederate Army & that 10 days before the war ended he came home on furlough in a crippled condition & before his furlough ended, the war ended. & I write to ask a reconsideration of my claim as I learn that I have been out off the rolls. I am totally unable to appear bef
