In consideration of the sum of $6 conveys all that tract of land known as Land Lot 622, 21st District, 2nd Section. Sold to the highest bidder on 07-May-1844 by order of the Justices Court of Cherokee County in favor of "the officers of court" of the 817th G.M. **Note** Lemuel Mansell - "who has the contral" and received the money.
**Note** The amount of $6 is the correct amount stated in the deed.

(The above land record is used to prove that John Stapp was a constable of Cherokee County, Georgia. It is unknown as to what time period he served.)

      Book F, Pages 405-406
Deed date Cherokee County 22-Oct-1842, recorded 21-Dec-1842 from Joshua Bradford of Gwinnett County to Birdwell Hill of Cherokee County. In consideration of the sum of $35 conveys all that tract of land known as Land Lot 322, 21st District, 2nd Section. Signed: Joshua Bradford. Testors: Jefferson Bradford and John Stepp. Sworn to in Cherokee County on 19-Nov-1842 by John Stepp before John R. Bates, J.P.

(The John Stepp/Stapp listed in these land records could be either John Stepp, b. 1821, or his father, John Stepp b. 1785. It is probably the younger John though, due to the fact that the older John would be close to death by 1842 and 1844 (he died in 1845.) But it is possible that John Sr. was involved in politics of that time, so it is really unknown as to which John it really is!
