  Baptized June 27, 1819 Bergkirchen. According to obituary he was born June 16, 1819. Married Louise Brink Nov. 2, 1845. Immigrated to this country 1849. Settled in St. Louis and from there to New Minden. Later, Hoyleton. Wife died Aug. 30, 1898. Of six children one child died at sea; another, in 1862. Remaining four children are August Schnake, Mrs. Herman Peithman, Mrs. Sam Cohlmeyer, and Wm. Schnake. Other survivors include 23 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.
