This indenture made and entered into this 4th day of September one thousand eight hundred and fifty eight between William L. James and Mahala James his wife of the county of Lafayette and State of Mississippi of the first part and Reuben Hall of the same state and county of the second part. Witnesseth that the said party of the first part have this day bargained and sold and conveyed unto the party of the second part for and in consideration of the sum of Three Hundred and Fifty (350) dollars in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby authorized the following described parcel of land as follows with all the appurtanances there to belonging to wit. known as the west half of the South west quarter of Section No. one, Township nine, Range three west also thrity acres in the north west quarter of section one township nine of Range three west of the ... meridian of the Chickasaw Session beginning at the Southwest corner aforesaid quarter section three north by and with the old line one hundred and thri

Moore, Clerk of the Probate Court of said County Mahala James and her husband Wm L James whose names appear signed to the foregoing deed who severally acknowledged that they signed sealed and delivered the same as their own ... and deed on the day and year it bears date for the purposes therein mentioned also personally appeared before me the said mahala James separate and apart from her said husband who acknowleged she signed sealed and delivered the same as her own free and voluntary act and deed freely without any fear that or compulsion of her said husband on the day and year of its date.
