  In 1744, Jacob left Henshof to marry Katharina Graf and took over her father Peter Graf's tenancy at Graefenau, a small farm close to Hemshof. Jacob remained there through 1753 and sometime thereafter moved back to Hemshof to split the hereditary tenancy of his brother Johannes Jr.
