• Notes

  Per Pal Heitmeyer, Jr., when they first came to Portland they bought a farm in Corvalis, Oregon. The area is on the turn off to Albany to Corvalis and over the river. There are radio towers there and the farm was behind these in the valley. Paul, Sr. was 3 or 4 when they got there. At the age of 10 or 11 he got rickets and Chris put him in the attic so the others would not get it. I believe that when the family came west that Elza stayed in Illinois the the farm and after they got settled in Corvalis, Powis went back to Illinois, sold the farm and came back west. The family home or farm that I remember as a child was located at 128th and Gleason - 12741 Gleason N.E., Portland, Oregon. The barn in the rear, now a garage, is still there. There is a new wing on the south side but otherwise it is the same.
