• Notes

  He came to the U.S. in the 1860's and first settled near Belleville, where he was a blacksmith. By 1878 he and his wife, Louise Kroeger, daughter of Fred Kroeger, had moved to Washington County to a farm three and one-half miles northwest of Hoyleton.
