  In 1765 , James, John and Joseph Phipps are listed on a petition to the Governor asking for a redress of fees. (The North Carolina colonial Records, Volume 7, page 737.) We do not know the exact date of death for Joseph, but we do know that he was still alive in 1769 because his youngest son, Isiah, was born that year.
