James Phipps and Catherine Griffin, Vol. 4 Page 459: Grayson County Va Court Order Books, on the motion of Joseph Phipps and James Phipps (sons of James and Catherine) who made oath and together with Samuel Leon? Hardin Cox, David Isom and Isom Cox.... they were involved with selling the estate of Benjamin Phipps.
May 22, 1838 vol. 5 Page 97, Grayson Co, Va Court Order Book: the court assigns John Phipps Guardian to William Phipps, Sabriory? Phipps, John M Phipps, Elizabeth Phipps and Jane Phipps, orphans of James Phipps deceased.
6 Nov 1839 Vol 5 Page 62, assignment of dower to Catherine Phipps widow of James Phipps deceased.
March term 1846, Page 119. Joseph Phipps vs. James Phipps heirs; awarded against Catharine Phipps, Micajah Forkner and his wife, James Phipps, Joseph Phipps, William Salinky? Phipps, John M. Phipps, Elizabeth Phipps, Jane Phipps, Thomas Phipps and Peggy Phipps.
This was dated 23 July 1846. James Phipps was indebted to Joseph Phipps and his property was posted and ordered to be sold. The children listed below came from the above court records:
