"I have not been able to determine when Jeremiah moved to Ky., but it must
have been during the mid 1790's. They settled along Buck Creek in then Lincoln
County; later to become Pulaski County in 1799. In 1803, Jane Claunch received
a patent on 200 acres of land on Buck Creek and Flat Lick Creek by virtue of
having improved the same. This is the earliest record I have found of Claunch
ownership in Pulaski Co."

JEREMIAH married UNKNOWN JANE about 1775. JANE was born in 1756; died in Sep 1841 in Pulaski County, Kentucky; was buried in Sep 1841 in Shopville, Pulaski County, Kentucky. [Group Sheet]

"There were two or three Jeremiah Claunches living in Southwest Virginia
about the same time. It has been difficult to separate and identify each of
them. At this point I am speculating that "our" Jeremiah was the son of
Jeremiah and Margaret Claunch who moved to Mecklinburg Co., Va. to FincastleCo. which becam e Montgomery Co. in 1776. Montgomery Co. was subdivided many
times and the Claunches are found in different counties as the areas were
redefined. Their original lands are now in the present-day Carrol Co., Va."
