    Notes:

Paulina Anna Carolina Arnsmeyer married Frank Guy Truman Schafer in 1904. Paulina was the daughter of Julia Klee and William Arnsmeyer. The Schafer family name is actually Chavers, but was inadvertently changed by a country doctor when Frank's birth certificate was recorded in the 1880's. Frank's heritage was half Cherokee Indian on his mother's side (her name was Henrietta Farmer) and English on the side of his father, a traveling jewelry salesman.
Although they met and married in Nashsville, Frank and Paulina (affectionately known as Aunt Polly) spent the early years of their married life in Percy, where Mildred Helen was born in 1909, and in Chester where Imogene ("Tootie" was born in 1915. The family moved back to Nashville in 1916 to live in the Arnsmeyer homeplace on Walnut Street. Homer G. was born in 1922 and Frank Cuy, Jr. was born in 1924. 1. 12.  CHAVER JOSEPH was born in 1855 in Carrol (?) Co.m Tennessee (son of CHAVERS Sterling and SPICE Ellen); died on 18 Mar 1925 in Murphysboro, Illinois.

    Notes:

He was a traveling jewelry salesman. He was killed in a tornado in Murphysboro, Illinois. To our knowledge, his body or possessions were never found.
There was a tornado March 18, 1925 that went through Murphysboro, Illinois. It was one mile wide and killed nearly 700 in three states. Winds were 62 miles an hour. 234 died in Murphysboro. We don't know if this was the tornado that killed Joseph or not. There is a more tri-state newspaper report in the Arnsmeyer File Folder.

I was always told I have Cherokee blood. My great grandmother, Henrietta Farmer Chaver, was supposed to be the grand daughter of a full-blood cherokee. My grandfather had proof including all the paper work. His wife was very prejudiced against the Indians and after her husbands death, burned everything. I've been searching ever since but unsuccessfully. My Chaver was Joseph Chaver. He was supposedly killed in a tornady in Murphysboro, Illinois in 1925. He was a jewelry salesman. His possessions and body were never found

    Birth:
According to Marriage Cert, the County in Tennessee does not to match a list of known counties. Best guess is that it is referring to Carroll county.

JOSEPH married FARMER HENRIETTA S E on 13 Aug 1880 in John B. Farmer Residence. HENRIETTA (daughter of FARMER John Brausen and MATTHEWS MARY Anne) was born on 22 Jul 1857 in Richview, Illinois; died on 10 Feb 1935 in Nashville, Washington, Illinois; was buried on 12 Feb 1935 in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashville, Washington, Illinois. [Group Sheet]

  2. 13.  FARMER HENRIETTA S E was born on 22 Jul 1857 in Richview, Illinois (daughter of FARMER John Brausen and MATTHEWS MARY Anne); died on 10 Feb 1935 in Nashville, Washington, Illinois; was buried on 12 Feb 1935 in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashville, Washington, Illinois.

    Notes:

Henrietta was three years old in the Illinois 1860 census.
A copy of a portion of "GENEALOGY OF SOME EAST TENNESSEE FAMILIES OF THE EARLY 19TH CENTURY" compiled by Ruth Ritchie in 1945 contains what information we have on Henrietta and her family. They believe she is descendent of Nathan Farmer but can not prove it as yet. If so, this print out contains Farmer information back for several more generations.
Pages 24 and 25 of the supplement to the above mention genealogy book have Henrietta's family information.
Her grandfather supposedly was full blooded Cherokee Indian. Frank Guy Schafer, Jr. shared with Wanda Gines in later years that he and his siblings were the last descendents of Henrietta that could live on a reservation if they chose to do so.
After her husband's death, someone in Richview took her in and they raised Frank Guy Schafer, their only child.
On September 22, 1986, Aunt Tootie Wallace shared with Wanda Gines that Henrietta Farmer in later life, after Joseph Chaver was gone, and Frank Guy was raised, married Frank Rogers. He had one son by a previous marriage named Ira Rogers. Frank Rogers was the only grandpa that Tootie, Mildred and Frank Guy,Jr. knew.
The old Edison Victrola that Mildred Schafer Brink gave to her daughter Wanda had belonged to Frank Rogers. Mildred remembered being at their home and putting the phonograph in the window with it open. All the neighbors gathered around outside to listen to the cylinder records.
After Frank Rogers died, Henrietta lived with Frank Guy and Pauline Schafer. She was nearly blind and later on her mind was bad. Ira stayed in Rogers house. (I barely remember Ira - he had an open, terrible looking cancerous sore on his face.)
