    Notes:

Died following a car accident in which their automobile was struck by a bus. The accident also claimed the life of George Raber of Troy (brother of Ella) and two of William's children (William and Thomas) were injured. Ella was pregnant at the time of the accident with Charles.

According to newspaper reports, the party was on its way to collinsville to attend a picture show at the Miners' theatre. The traffic was heavy on the National Trall at the time and it was snowing, making driving somewhat difficult. According to reports, L.W. simpson of Collinsville, driver of the bus, turned out to pass a car just ahead and driven by Frank Stubblefield of Greenville. It is also said that Ramshaw had also passed another car just before the collision, but this has not been verified.

The bus and the car came together in a heavy impact. Ramshaw's car was truck near the center on the left side and thrown into a ditch, the forward part of the bus landing on top of it. The five occupants of the closed car were caught under the wreckage with no chance of escape. A number of passengers on the bus were shaken up and bruised but none seriously. The Ramshaw car, a Studebaker sedan, was reducted to a mass of wreckage.

Following the accident, traffic became greatly congested and soon a line of cars fully a mile long on each side were held up at the scene of the wreck. Physicians were called from Troy and an ambulance summoned from Collinsville. Ramshaw was the first taken from the wreck and expired a few minutes after. Raber was alive and conscious when removed and was placed in an ambulance along with Ramshaw. The latter's body was left at a Collinsville undertaking establishment and Raber was hurried to St. Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis. He had both legs broken, an anrm and hand badly torn, a deep scalp wound and probably internal injuries. Death ensued at the hospital at 4 o'clock Monday morning.

The two Ramshaw children were taken to Highland hospital and Llewellyn was brought to his home here but later also taken to Highland. Thomas Ramshaw, youngest of the children, was the most seriously injured. He suffered a fractured thigh, fractured jaw and concussion of the brain. William was also severely cut about the head and legs and has slight internal injuries.

William married RABER Ella Ruth on 14 Apr 1914 in Troy, Madison, IL. Ella (daughter of RABER Frank C. and KRUEGER Elizabeth Anna) was born on 13 Aug 1893 in IL; died on 2 Aug 1972 in La Habra, CA. [Group Sheet]
