Martin and wife Ellen were still alive in 1870 since the census showed them
as 60 and 58, respectively. He was a farmer from Kentucky.

5 or 6 of Martin's siblings are buried in Old Wilderness Road Cemetery
near Brodhead, KY. C.E. Latham told me in 1990 that M V hook on a stone across
from his home on McQuery Road near Plato, Pulaski Co., KY.
Actual stone found by Charles Hilton in summer of 1992. It is on Mr. Latham's
farm and says upside down "M" L VAN DEC 9 1873.

MARTIN married THOMPSON ELENOR (ELLEN) in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. ELENOR (daughter of THOMPSON JOSEPH SR. and CHARLTON NANCY) was born on 28 Feb 1812 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky; died after 1870 in Kentucky. [Group Sheet]

photograph of his monument is on file as well as photos of the old VanHook
Homestead. Information was taken from Fred VanHooks "The VanHook Family" of

!MILITARY: Nina Cash Family Data Sheet for Joseph Thompson, Sr.
Joseph fought in the War of 1812. He enlisted 8-23-1813 at Mt. Vernon, Kentucky
and discharged the same, 11-8-1813. His 2nd wife, Jemima, received 40 acres of
Bounty Land for Joseph's military service. There was a Joseph Thompson who
applied for a pension from Shelby County, KY, but he was 71 years old on Jan.
4, 1834, consequently to old to be this same Joseph Thompson and too young to
be his father.

Montgomery County, born about 1806 and died in 1827 in Montgomery County.
