    Confirmed 1682, 14 yrs. old, Bergkirchen, Westfalen, Germany.

  1. 2.  SCHNAKE TOENNIES was born before 1645 in Unterluebbe, Westfalen, Prussia; head of household Nr. 33 in 1682 (son of SCHNAKE CASPAR and UNKNOWN).

    Notes:

    The village register shows Toennies Schnake as head of hosuehold at Nr. 33 in 1682. But note that Hinrich was born at Nr. 33. Sot it looks like Caspar was living there b 1650. However, Toennies must have died without heirs, as the farm passed from there through Hinrich's son Johan. From there on we have church records verifying the line. (Previous records on this line have come from Rutter -- see * under ootes for Son Schnake.

    Notes:

    Note that there were no other Schnakes besides Nr. 19 recorded anywhere in Bergkirchen parish before this line shows up at Nr. 33. The farmstead at Nr. 33 was formerly occupied by the Juergen family, then it was renamed "Schnoaken", a dialect version of "Schnaken". So where else could Nr. 33 Schnakes have come from? The Hilverdingsen death of theSchnake born 1594 implies to me that the Hilverdingsen line was the source of the Hoefen Nr. 33 line. -- Roy Johnson
