    Daniel (senior) Doughty's will of 1804 mentions two sons, Joseph and Laban. In 1805, Laban's name was changed to Daniel Laban Milton Doty due to Laban Oakley's (father in law to Daniel senior) involvement in the poisoning of Daniel senior.

    Daniel and brother Joseph moved to Tuscaloosa County, Alabama at a young age. They acquired land and lived there for a short time before moving to Mississippi. Daniel settled in Attala County, and there he engaged in farming and cattle raising. On his land was a large spring of water, which still bears his name today; Doty Springs. Daniel adopted the Doty spelling.

    Daniel married BURCHFIELD Lucinda on 6 Jan 1826 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. Lucinda was born in 1805 in Pendleton District, South Carolina; died in 1887 in Attala County, Mississippi; was buried in 1887 in Attala County, Mississippi. [Group Sheet]

Lester two male mules on red sorrel the other a light sorrel with white around the mouth & nostrils for the following purposes viz, I the said McGonigle purchased the said light sorrel mule from the said Lester for the sum of one hundred & forty dollars for which amount he the said Lester has my note at one day after ... now if I the said McGonigle pay to the said Lester the amount of said note by the first day of November 1869, then the above sale of said mules is to be sold otherwise it is binding so far as to enable said Lester to make his money out of the sum the remainder to be returned to me provided further that said mules cannot be taken away from said lester until the above obligation is complied with.
