    Notes:

Dr. Edward Bernreuter, a brother of George and Louis Bernreuter, was a son of Dr. Conrad Bernreuter of Nashville, IL.
Edward was born in 1859, died in 1905 in Mt. Olive, Il., where he practiced medicine and surgery. He had his medical and musical education in Germany - (he was an accomplished pianist). He continued medicine in Vienna as an observer and student of surgery which was then in its infancy.
Through the influence of an Aunt who lived in Mt. Olive, Il., he opened his offices in that city. Since this was a coal mining area he felt he could successfully pursue his surgical knowledge there because of the number of accidents in the coal mine during that period. He became well-known for his success in orthopedic surgery, but died in his prime, aged forty-five.
He married Lydia Nieman of Mt. Olive. Several of their children died in infancy. Those who grew to maturity were Walter, Corinne, Alfred, Winona, and Herbert.
Walter, the eldest was a graduate electrical engineer, University of Illinois, 1901. He never married.
Corinne, a graduate of Strasburg Conservatory in St. Louis, married but had no children.
Alfred was first violinist with the St. Louis Symphony during most of his productive years. Later he taught music at Greenville, Il. College. He also married but had no children.
    Winona died at twenty-five.
Herbert was born September 1900 and died in 1954. He, too, was a graduate engineer, and had an inventive turn of mind, having invented a bomb sight which the government purchased and used throughout WJ.W.II. He married twice. His first wife was Elizabeth von-Einem by whom he had two daughters. Betty Jean (b. 8-22-27) married Thos. Nielson on 8-22-47. They have two sons: Thomas, b. 1-27-51, is a Congregational minister in Illinois, and Kurt, who is a radio announcer in Iowa. Betty Jean lives in Franklin Park, IL.
