  1. 2.  FRIEMAN KENNETH EARL was born on 15 Sep 1906 in Home in Oakdale, Illinois (son of FRIEMAN HENRY CONRAD and REUTER WALTENA (WATTENA) JANE); died on 8 Mar 1992.

    Notes:

    Kenneth Earl Frieman was born in Oakdale Township on September 15, 1906, son of Henry C. Frieman and Waltena Reuter Frieman. Kenneth had four brothers and one sister, Irene (Alfeldt), Harry, Herman, Orval, and Norman. Kenneth graduated from a one-room rural school in Elkton, attended Oakdale High School for three years, and then graduated from Nashville High School in 1927. He attended Southern Illinois Normal University at Carbondale. Kenneth taught nine years in teh one-room rural schools of Washington County and two years in the upper grades in Oakdale two-room school He got his degree in Education from University of Carbondale in 1938, also took additional work from the Indiana University at Bloomington. Kenneth was elected County Supt. of Schools, November 8, 1938, and held this office until he retired on Aug. 2, 1871.

    Mary Fern Carson was born Sept. 8, 1905 in Pilot Knob Township, the youngest child of David Preston Carson and Eleanor Todd Kennedy Crson. (See David Carson). Fern attended the Luney one-room school In 1924, she graduated from Sparta Township High School, attended Illinois State Normal Bloomington for two years and 2 summers. She began teaching the Hibbard school in 1927. The next three years she taught the Primary Room of Oakdale. She retired from teaching except for substitute teaching.

    Kenneth and Fern were married April 30, 1929 in the Carson home in Oakdale by her brother, Rev. M. K. Carson of Sparta. They took two children into their home August 16, 1946 and adopted them the following year: Mary Alic, b. 2/8/1938 and Jerry David b. 12/11/1939.

  3. 6.  CARSON DAVID PRESTON was born on 16 Jun 1865 (son of CARSON JOHN and CARSON ELIZABETH); died on 2 May 1952.

    Notes:

    David Preston Carson, the sixth child of John and Elizabeth Carson was b. 6/16/1865, D. 5/2/1852. Both of his parents were born in Ireland. John Carson came with his father, John Carson, along with his brothers and sisters, to America and settled in Pilot Knob Township in 1846. the brothers and sisters of David Carson may be found under (John and Elizabeth Carson). After the death of his mother 6/23/1889 of lockjaw, David married Eleanor Todd Kennedy 11/13/1889, daughter of Katie J. Willson of Pennsylvania and Andrewe Todd Kennedy, who was a Sergeant in the Civil War. Eleanor was b. 5/11/1867, d. 11/30/1929. Her mother died when she was 18 days old. She was taken by her grandmother, Eleanor Todd Kennedy and made her home with her until she married, except for the years she attended a girl's school in Oxford, Ohio.

    The children born to david and Eleanor Carson were: Melville Kennedy Carson b. 11/16/1890, he was a miister in Reformed Presbyterian Church for 50 years, having pastorates in Sparta, Seattle, Washington, Bell Center, Ohio. After retiring he preached in Montclair, New Jersey until his death 3/13/1970. He married Margaret Faith Coleman, b. 1/23/1895, date of marriage was 8/17/1920. To this union were born three children: David Melville Carson; Margaret Coleman Carson; and James Donald. All the children were born in Sparta, whle their father was minister there.

    Second child, Katie Willson, b. 4/28/1892, d. 5/2/1967, married 6/16/1915 to Joseph Houseman, b. 3/26/1889. Katie was a school teacher. To this unnion 11 children were born: Elizabeth May; David Paul; Willard Joseph; all born in Detroit, Michigan, while their father worked in the Ford Plant. The followign eight children were born in Lakeland, Florida; Mary Eleanor; Anna Margaret; Clara Rose; Fred Lewis; Fern Abigail; John Moody; Hannah Ruth; and Stephen Daniel.

  1. 8.  FRIEMAN HENRY HERMAN was born on 27 May 1831 in Hanover, Germany/came to U.S. around 1859; died on 11 Aug 1896 in Oakdale Twp., Washington Co., Illinois; b. Elkton Cemetery.

    Notes:

    Henry Herman Frieman, a farmer, was born in Germany on May 27, 1831, and came to the U.S. with his wife Johanish Mary nee Bergfeldt (b. Oct. 5, 1831) aaround 1859. Their oldest son, George W., was born April 14, 1859, supposedly at sea.

    Mr. and Mrs. Frieman settled in Lively Grove Township, now Oakdale Township, where the remainder of their eight children were born, namely: William Henry, Feb. 8, 1861; Reinholdt John, Nov. 15, 1862; Anna, March 22, 1865; Fredericka Katherine, April 19, 1867;Herman F., 1869; Mary, April 5, 1873; and Henry Conrad, August 15, 1875. They all attended the Evangelical Church at Elkton, where the parents are buried.

    The children married as follows: George W. to Marie Wahl; William Henry to Nancy L. Kingston; R. John to Mary Ann Reuss; Anna to Leon Bouas; Frederica "Carrie" to Henry Kroener; Herman F. to Sarah Kaufman; Mary to Bill Robinson; and Henry C. to Wattena J. Reuter.

    Their descendants are many.

    Notes:

    John Carson and Elizabeth Carson were married at Elkhorn in 1849. Both of them had migrated from Ireland, seeking the greater opportunities of the New World. John Carson was born in the town land of Crievagh, County Monaghan, in 1830, the son of John and Elizabeth Moffett Carson. He died at Oakdale in 1800. Elizabeth Carson was born in Lac Livery, also in County Monaghan, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Wilson Carson. She died at Oakdale June 23, 1889 of lockjaw.

    John came to America in 1846 and settled on the land in Pilot Knob Township where Preston Carson now lives. Elizabeth came to New York in 1848, and after working there for some months, made the journey by the Erie Canal, the Great Lakes, the Ohio Canal to Cincinnati, and the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, to St. Louis; and from there by a three-day wagon trip to Oakdale.

    John Carson had two brothers, Thomas (who did not marry) and Richard (who died an infant). He had four sisters, Eliza, who married John McClay; Nancy, who married David McClay; Jane, who married Samuel McCloy; and Isabella, who married John McCloy.

    Elizabeth Carson had five brothers who lived to adulthood: Henry, William, John, Thomas, and Isaac; and four sisters, Ann Carson Carson, Jane Carson Montgomery, Mary Carson Smith, and Eleanor Carson McCloy. All of her family except Thomas migrated to Illinois, settling near Oakdale or in the vicinity of Staunton. At last her parents came, too, and spent their last years in America. Ella Carson died July 30, 1890 shortly after she came to U.S. In the next generation two of Thomas's daughters came, Jennie Carson McClay and Margaret Carson McFate.

    John and Elizabeth Carson and their family were all active members in the Oakdale Reformed Presbyterian Church; two of their grandchildren became Reformed Presbyterian ministers, Rev. Charles T. Carson, son of William Henry -- (Elizabeth Ramsey Carson) and Rev. Melville K. Carson, son of David P. (Eleanor Kennedy Carson).

    They had six children, two of whom died in infancy (Mary Carson, b. April 15, 1850, d. August 8, 1852; John Carson, b. March 15, 1851, d. December 17, 1853). The four surviving sons were:
    William Henry Carson, who married Elizabeth Ramsey; he was a farmer near Oakdale. They had six sons; Edwin, Waldo, Charles, Willard, Roy, and Floyd.
    John Moffett Carson, who married Lillie Hood; he was a merchant in Nashville. Their daughter, Ruth, married Myrl Lumbattis.
    Robert Sloan Carson, who married first Ella Donnelly (they had a son, Warren) and second Lena Speer (their daughter Ella married Frank Harrison).
    David Preston Carson, who married Eleanor Kennedy. They had five children: Melville, Katie, Elwyn, Elizabeth and Fern.
