    Notes:

    Found living with his parents in the 1850 census records in the first ward of Cleveland.

    In the 1860 census records he is found living with the Mayer family.

    Adam married MEYER Anna Maria in Ohio. Anna (daughter of MEYER Johannes and SPECK Anna Maria) was born in 1840; died in 1896. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    In 1846, there was a crop failure in Schwennigen. The town people got together to deal with the issue of the poor people who were being supported by the town, they had established soup kitchens and aid to the poor. However, some of the poor asked permission to go to the US and the town council which had been formed to deal with the matter agreed. There was some dissent over the issue of "getting rid of the poor to save money" as some people saw it. However, it was agreed to 224 individuals would go from Germany to the US. An individual was hired to transport them, and they went from Germany to London as planned. However, the emigrants discovered that the captain did not plan on taking them to the US middle country as had been promised but to Canada. That is what was done with them, but then they were transported directly to Ohio rather than to NY which had been the original plan. The captain explained that it was actually easier for them to get to the middle states through Canada rather than make thei
