  Lester attended S. I. U., Carbondale, Illinois, where he starred in basketball. Has his degree and master's from the U. of Illinois School of Business in Accounting. He was teacher and coach of Waltonville, Illinois, High School for several years, after which he accepted a position at Proviso Community H. S., Maywood, Illinois, where he taught for more than 25 years, having been honored and given a gold watch for 25 years service to that school. They spent a number of sumemrs managing a church camp near Bridgman, Mich.
